Welcome
Welcome to the New Zealand Bebras Challenge 2023! This year the competition for Aotearoa New Zealand will be available from 20 March to 31 March 2023.
Our thoughts are with everyone affected by Cyclone Gabrielle. As we organise this Bebras Challenge for 2023 we considered how best to support communities in the North Island. Radio New Zealand have compiled a list: https://www.rnz.co.nz/news/national/484422/cyclone-gabrielle-where-to-donate, which we are sharing on this website. Many schools are organising fundraising and our communities are working together to support those in need. We've moved the competition to 20th - 31st March to give those who can access this Bebras Challenge some more time to regroup.
About Bebras
The Bebras Challenge introduces computational thinking to students.
It runs in over 50 countries and is designed to get students all over the world excited about computing.
Each participant gets 45 minutes to answer a set of multiple-choice questions that focus on computational and logical thinking skills.
No preparation is needed before taking the challenge.
Year Levels
The challenge is open to all students from Year 4 up to Year 13.
There are 5 different groups, each with a different selection of questions in the challenge:
- – Years 4 to 6
- – Years 7 to 8
- – Years 9 to 10
- – Year 11
- – Years 12 to 13
Anyone within these groups can participate.
It does not matter if it is a language student or a born mathematician!
The questions only require some basic reasoning ability.
